Spider Lily (Hymenocallis lirisome)

Spider Lily is one of Louisiana’s most ethereally beautiful native wildflowers — a bulbous perennial of bayou margins and swamp edges whose spidery white flowers with their long, thread-like petals and intoxicating fragrance bloom in spring and early summer at the water’s edge. It is a plant of the deep bayou, native to the freshwater marshes and slow-moving waterways of the Gulf Coastal Plain, and one of the most distinctive wildflowers of the Louisiana landscape.
