Rue — La Rue (Ruta graveolens) | Louisiana Botanical Heritage Digital Guide (PDF)

English · Rue

A digital PDF guide to Rue (Ruta graveolens), an ornamental garden herb with blue-green leaves and small yellow flowers. La rue adds a distinctive shape and color to a sunny herb border. It is not native to Louisiana; in Traiteur Garden, its story belongs to the study of cultivated plants and garden traditions, not a promise of special effects.

Garden notes

• Light: Give it a sunny place.
• Soil: Choose well-drained soil and avoid waterlogged roots.
• Handling: Wear gloves when pruning; contact with the plant followed by sunlight can irritate skin. Grow as an ornamental, not for consumption.

This guide is shared for cultural, historical, botanical, and horticultural education only.
