Les Traces du Bayou — Bayou Tracks | Bilingual Story & Craft PDF

A little muddy mark. A big question. A young track detective.

Camille and Mamère compare animal-track clues, make their own clay patterns, and discover that good observation includes knowing when to say, “I’m not sure.” Les Traces du Bayou — Bayou Tracks is Book 8 in Big Mamou Enterprises’ Bayou Children’s Folklore & Craft Series.

Inside this five-page PDF

• An original story in English and Cadien-inspired French.
• Bilingual instructions for simplified raccoon, deer, hog, and bird track patterns in modeling clay.
• A printable drawing and comparison page.

Suggested for ages 5–9 with adult supervision. Use age-appropriate modeling clay and a large blunt craft tool checked by an adult, or draw the patterns on paper. No real mud, plaster, animal remains, or sharp tools are needed.

The patterns are imaginative learning models, not definitive wildlife-identification templates. For real tracks, adults can consult a trusted regional wildlife guide. Children observe only from a safe, dry path with an adult and do not follow tracks, approach animals, enter mud or water, or touch droppings.

This original fiction is inspired by Louisiana family life, not a documented traditional folk tale. French expressions vary by family and community.

Digital PDF only. No printed booklet, clay, tools, wildlife guide, or craft supplies included. Nothing is shipped. For personal and family use.
