What is BAYOU BARRIER™?

BAYOU BARRIER™ is a botanical indoor/outdoor home defense spray formulated to repel and deter roaches, ants, and spiders without synthetic pesticides. All active ingredients are EPA 25(b) minimum-risk exempt — no registration required, no toxic residue, safe for use around children and pets once dry.

Active Botanical Compounds

• Peppermint oil (Mentha piperita) — disrupts ant pheromone trails on contact; ants avoid re-establishing foraging paths through treated areas
• Cedarwood oil (Juniperus virginiana) — cedrol and thujopsene are documented contact repellents for Blattodea species; deters roach activity in treated zones
• D-limonene (Citrus sinensis peel) — disrupts the waxy epicuticle of ants and roaches on contact; also disrupts spider silk anchor points
• Clove bud oil / eugenol (Syzygium aromaticum) — peer-reviewed studies document strong insect-deterrent activity at low concentrations; fast-acting botanical contact repellent

Is BAYOU BARRIER™ safe to use indoors? Yes. Spray along baseboards, under sinks, around door frames, and in cabinet corners. Allow to dry before children or pets re-enter the area.

How long does it keep working? Residual repellent effect lasts 7–10 days under normal conditions. Reapply after mopping or heavy rain near entry points.

Will it kill roaches or just repel them? Direct contact with cedarwood oil and d-limonene can deter roaches and ants on contact. The primary mechanism is repellent — it creates a botanical barrier they will not cross.

Is it safe for pets? Safe once dry. Do not allow pets to lick treated surfaces while wet. Clove oil can be irritating to cats in concentrated form.
