đ Pierre Part, Louisiana â A Bayou Stronghold
đ Where it sits
A small Cajun community in Assumption Parish, tucked right up against:
-
Lake Verret
-
Belle River
-
The eastern edge of the Atchafalaya Basin
Itâs one of the most waterâlocked towns in Louisiana â for decades, you could only reach it by boat.
Cajun French Heartland
Pierre Part is one of the most Frenchâspeaking towns in the United States.
Generations of Acadian families settled there after the Grand Dérangement, and because the town stayed isolated for so long, the culture stayed pure:
-
French spoken at home
-
Catholic traditions
-
Fishing and swamp life
-
Family names that go back 200 years
Itâs the kind of place where the old stories still walk around.
Â
đŁ What itâs known for
-
Swamp People â The Landry family is from here
-
Alligator hunting
-
Cypress swamps
-
Driftwood art
-
Lake Verret fishing
-
Quiet, deep Cajun culture
Itâs not a tourist town â itâs a living Cajun town.
This series, of photographs came from the area of Lake Verret, despite the famous swamp people stomping grounds, still many large gators, I'm offering the series, on  https://realtimecajun.com
 as always, Love, Cazan
